1996 a winning first year for NITRO!
NITRO flourished in its first year. 1996 saw the conception and formation of the Northern Illinois Trials Riders Organization. A club dedicated to the promotion of Observed Trials.
Thanks to all those who joined and participated in 1996. With your support we were able to form the organization, host five events, establish two new challenging trials sites, attract new riders, author a NITRO home page on the internet, prepare and distribute new rider information packages and compile a list of riding areas.
TODAY
we've only scratched the surface of what the club is capable of. In the year 2007 and beyond we plan to continue to build momentum next year and aggressively support our charter, to promote Observed Trials.
This next year we plan to continue to support the initiatives we launched, and pursue many new Trials boosting initiatives with determination and conviction.
You can be a part of the success of our family oriented Trials club. Show your support by joining NITRO now. If you are currently a member, now's the time to renew your membership for 2008.
For each event it costs $100 for the AMA sanction and $175 to buy liability insurance for the land owner and club. NITRO also requires an AMA club membership for $100, and needs to buy supplies like stamps, ribbons, etc.
Most of all, we need your continued support to organize and set up events, find, encourage, and coach new riders, write up events, contribute to the newsletter and generally promote the sport of Observed Trials.
Participating in the organizational work can be most rewarding. For 20 some years, I only took from the sport, without giving anything back, other than entry fees. I never gave much thought to the fact that without someone's effort there would be no events available for myself or others to ride. Only now, after participating in the organizational effort, do I realize how much work is required, but also how rewarding it can be to have participated in the effort.
